Judge Van Veen returns from St. Maarten to the Netherlands

St. Maarten – Judge René van Veen bid St, Maarten farewell with a party at the St. Rose Arcade last night. The Vice-President of the Common Court of Justice returns per August 1 to the Netherlands. Judge M Koen Luijks, currently the Judge of Instruction in Philipsburg, will succeed Van Veen.

After the summer, mr. Luijks will mostly handle civil cases, while the current resident judge for criminal cases, Tamara Tijhuis, will step into the role of Judge of Instruction. Judge

Diederik Thierry will also return to the Netherlands.

mr. Koos van de Ven will start his tour of duty as the resident judge for criminal cases per August 1. mr. Katja Mans will on the same day start as judge for civil and administrative cases.

mr. Evert Jan van der Poel succeeds the retiring mr. Lisbeth Hoefdraad per August 17 as the President of the Common Court of Justice.
