THURSDAY, 29 AUGUST 2013

PHILIPSBURG – Preparations are on the way for a meeting of the Supervisory Council of the National Security Service VDSM. The council will review the report on the apparent misappropriation of funds at the agency. Prime Minister Sarah Wescot-Williams said Wednesday, that the meeting should happen “on St. Maarten in the coming days.”

Last week she had declined to give more details on the report saying that the weekly Council of Minister Press Conference that the investigation had entered into “a more sensitive phase.”

No one from VDSM has yet been suspended in relation to the ongoing investigation. A report on the situation was compiled by Government Accountants Bureau SOAB. Recommendations from that report are being carried out.
